Dog Allergy Treatment

Dogs are likely to develop allergies; they show up as itchiness, scratching and watery eyes.  The type of allergy varies but they can be treated to help your dog find relief from the annoying symptoms of allergies. Dog allergy treatment is very important, especially when some doctors say that you can be susceptible to the same allergens too!

So, what is the first step to treat dog allergies? Examination.  A veterinarian will take a look at your dog’s medical history and will proceed with a close examination, specially on the skin (signs of allergy include skin lesions, lymph nodes, etc.)

 Can Allergies Be Cured?

Yes, they can be cured, but in order to find a solution to this problem, it must be first determined the type of allergy.  It can be to airborne substances, to food or fleas, and according to what the type is, a set of medications is used.

To relieve the itching problem, the medications that are most used are antihistamines. In the case of food allergy, you can try special food for dogs that doesn’t contain the typical ingredients that cause allergies in dogs.  However this doesn’t work for everyone, in that case is better to consult your veterinary to determine a working diet.
